Virtualization
First, let’s start with a little background about Virtualization. What is it? Virtualization is the process of creating a software-based, or virtual, representation of something, such as virtual applications, servers, storage and networks. Virtualization is an effective way to reduce IT expenses while increasing efficiency and agility for any business size.
Now, let’s discuss how Virtualization works. Although we love and specialize in hardware we know it has its limitations. It is common for IT organizations to deploy multiple servers which can get rather costly. Virtualization can help cut these costs. Virtualization relies on software to simulate hardware functionality and create a virtual computer system. This can be cost effective for businesses because it allows them to run multiple operating systems and applications on a single server.
VMWARE FOR WORKSTATIONS
VMware Workstation
VMware Workstation 15 Pro takes virtualization to the next level with the broadest operating system support, rich user experience, a comprehensive feature set and high performance. VMware Workstation Pro is designed for professionals that rely on virtual machines to get their job done.
VMware Workstation Pro gives you the opportunity to run multiple operating systems at the same time on the same Windows or Linux PX. Using Workstation Pro gives you the comfort of creating real Linux and Windows VMs and other desktop, server, and tablet environments, complete with configurable virtual networking and network condition simulation, for use in code development, solution architecting, application testing, product demonstrations and more.
Workstation Pro supports dozens of operating systems and is compatible with cloud and container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
Using VMware vSphere? Excellent! With Workstation Pro you are able to security connect with vSphere, ESXi or other Workstation servers so you can launch, control and manage both virtual machines and physical hosts. A common VMware hypervisor maximizes productivity and enables easy transfer of VMs to and from your local PC.
Run a secure second desktop with different privacy settings, tools and networking configurations, or use forensic tools to investigate OS vulnerabilities. VMware Workstation offers one of the most secure hypervisors in the industry and delivers powerful features for IT security professionals.

VMWARE FOR SERVERS
VMware is a global leader in cloud infrastructure and business mobility. The VMware Suite includes vSphere products such as vSphere Essentials Kit, vSphere Essentials Plus Kit and VMware Workstation. VMware software has been proven to improve efficiency and control for IT groups. vSphere is one of the leading server virtualization platforms that provides consistent management, efficient storage, high availability, network services, and more all while saving costs.
What is VMware vSphere?
VMware vSphere is the ideal foundation of any cloud environment that reduces data center expenses, increases system and application uptime while simplifying the way that you are able to operate your data center. vSphere helps the user simplify their IT by separating applications and operating systems from the hardware they “live-in.”
vSphere Essential Kit – designed with the small businesses needs in mind while providing virtualization and centralized management for up to three (3) server hosts. The vSphere Essentials Kit provides the user with server consolidation to help you cut your costs while getting the most out of your hardware.
vSphere Essentials Kit – 1 Year
vSphere Essentials Kit – 3 Year
vSphere Essentials Plus Kit – designed with the small businesses needs in mind while providing virtualization and centralized management for up to three (3) server hosts. vSphere Essentials Plus Kit provides the user with business continuity with a smaller IT footprint thus reducing hardware costs. Business continuity is ensured with features such as vSphere High Availability, a simple automatic restate of applications if server failure is ever detected. As well as vSphere vMotion, which helps eliminate downtown during server maintenance. VMware vSphere Data Protection helps you protect business applications and data with its backup/recovery and application protection. Worried about viruses? Not to worry, VMware vShield Endpoint provides antivirus and antimalware protection for your virtual machine. Finally, vSphere Replication adds a cost friendly replication for your virtual machines and offers a foundation for small businesses to leverage a cloud-based disaster-recovery solution.
vSphere Essentials Plus Basic Kit – 1 Year
vSphere Essentials Plus Basic Kit – 3 Year
vSphere Essentials Plus Production Kit – 1 Year
vSphere Essentials Plus Production Kit – 3 Year
Wondering how vSphere Essentials Kit and Plus Kit are used? First, they help you maximize application availability and protect your data with integrated backup, recovery, and failover features. Second, they can help you consolidate and optimize your IT investments so you can save money on hardware.Third, they can help you simplify management and enhance productivity by provisioning new applications in fast minutes rather than days or even dreadful weeks. You can even monitor your virtual machine performance and set up automated patch updates. Last but not least, the user can streamline software development to safely test in a secure sandbox environment while enabling test and development teams to share server, network, and storage infrastructure.
Minimum vSphere Essential Kits Hardware Requirements
Processor | At least 1 x 64-bit dual-core CPU. |
Memory | Minimum 4GB of RAM, 8GB of RAM recommended. |
Storage | Storage adequate to run host and virtual machines. |
Network | 1/more Gigabit/faster Ethernet controllers. |
Recommendations for Enhanced Performance
Processors | Faster processors improve ESXi performance. For certain workloads, larger caches improve ESXi performance. |
RAM | Requires more RAM than a typical server. At least 8GB RAM to take full advantage of ESXi features. ESXi must have sufficient RAM to run concurrent virtual machines. |
Disk Location | Place all data your virtual machines uses on physical disks allocated to specific machines. Performance peaks when virtual machines are not placed on the disk containing ESXi boot image. Use disks that are large enough to hold images that all virtual machines use. |
Hardware | Requires devices that are supported by ESXi 6.0 drivers. |
