Answers to the most common questions about our custom AI workstations, GPU servers, LLM servers, HPC systems, and gaming PCs. Still have questions? Talk to our engineering team.
What is VRLA Tech and what do you build?
VRLA Tech is a US based custom computer builder based in Chatsworth, Los Angeles, California. Since 2016 we have designed and hand assembled AI workstations, GPU servers, LLM inference servers, HPC systems, professional workstations, and custom gaming PCs for Fortune 500 companies, research laboratories, federal agencies, and individual power users. Every system is spec'd to customer workload, hand built in our LA facility, burn in tested for 48 to 72 hours, and backed by lifetime US based engineer support.
Who are VRLA Tech's customers?
Our customers include General Dynamics, Los Alamos National Laboratory, Johns Hopkins University, Miami University, and George Washington University, along with countless ML engineers, VFX studios, CAD engineers, content creators, and gamers. We serve AI research teams running LLM fine tuning on Llama, Qwen, and Mistral, VFX studios using DaVinci Resolve and Houdini, engineering firms running SOLIDWORKS and Revit, and gamers who demand zero failure builds for tournament play.
What hardware do you use in your AI workstations and GPU servers?
Our AI workstations feature AMD Threadripper PRO 9995WX (96 cores, 192 threads) or AMD EPYC 9005 series CPUs paired with up to 4x NVIDIA RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell GPUs. GPU and LLM servers scale to 8x RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell Max-Q with 768GB DDR5-6400 ECC memory. All systems use ECC memory, enterprise NVMe storage, and redundant cooling validated for 24/7 operation. For content creation and CAD workstations, we also offer Intel Xeon, Intel Core Ultra, AMD Ryzen, and AMD Threadripper platforms.
Can I customize a system that's not listed on your site?
Absolutely. We build any configuration you need, even if it's not listed. Our engineering team specs CPU topology, GPU interconnect, thermal envelope, storage, and networking to your exact workload. Tell us your models, frameworks (PyTorch, vLLM, TensorRT-LLM, ComfyUI, Blender, DaVinci Resolve, SOLIDWORKS), concurrency target, and budget, and we'll spec a system in one business day. Contact us with your requirements.
How long does it take to build and ship my system?
Ready to ship systems go out within 24 hours. Standard custom orders ship in 5 to 10 business days, which includes build, 48 to 72 hour burn in testing, thermal validation, and packaging. Complex custom configurations, multi GPU servers, and specialty builds may take 2 to 4 weeks. We give you a firm timeline upfront at order confirmation and send tracking the moment your system ships.
What warranty do your systems come with?
Workstations and servers come with a 3 year parts warranty. Gaming PCs come with a 2 year parts warranty. Every system includes lifetime US based support from the same engineering team that built it. No tiered support, no paid upgrades, no offshore call centers. If something fails in warranty, we replace the part and cover shipping.
Do you offer financing?
Yes. We offer flexible financing through Affirm and Bread Pay, including 0% APR options on eligible purchases. Select your financing method at checkout and own your system today. For enterprise and government procurement, we also accept purchase orders, wire transfers, and GSA payment processes. Contact our sales team for B2B terms.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes. We ship throughout the United States, Canada, and worldwide. Domestic US orders use insured ground freight with signature confirmation. For international orders outside the US and Canada, international wire transfer is required and we quote shipping plus any applicable duties upfront. Contact us to arrange international shipping.
What makes VRLA Tech different from Dell, HP, Lenovo, or Puget Systems?
Unlike OEMs that sell generic configurations from a spec sheet, every VRLA Tech system is custom built to your specific workload. You get direct access to US engineers before, during, and after purchase, no ticket queues or escalation paths. We also publish real lead times (5 to 10 days versus the 4 to 8 week OEM average), offer lifetime support at no extra cost, and compete aggressively on price without cutting component quality. Customers often report saving 20 to 40% versus equivalent Dell Precision or HP Z workstations.
Is owning a workstation cheaper than renting cloud GPUs?
For most sustained workloads, yes. A VRLA Tech workstation typically pays for itself in 4 to 8 weeks versus equivalent AWS, Google Cloud, or Lambda Labs GPU rentals. You get fixed cost compute, no throttling, no queue times, no egress fees, and full control of your data, critical for regulated industries and sensitive research. Use our free AI ROI Calculator to see your exact break even in 60 seconds.
Has VRLA Tech been featured in the tech press?
Yes. VRLA Tech has been covered by Linus Tech Tips (Threadripper PRO workstation review), TechRadar (first AMD Threadripper PRO 9995WX workstation launch), PC Gamer (VRLA Tech Titan review), and FStoppers (professional editing workstation deep dive). Our systems have been independently reviewed and validated by the hardware publications that matter.
What's your return and refund policy?
Because every system is custom built to order, standard orders are non refundable once production begins. If your system arrives damaged or does not meet the spec on your order, we repair or replace it at our cost. Defective parts within the warranty window are replaced free. For full terms see our return policy or contact support.
