Samsung Announces NEW GDDR6 RAM!

Have you heard? Adding to their successful 2017 year, Samsung beat its competitors to the market by being the very first company to announce the release of GDDR6 memory. Samsung’s Senior VP, Jinman Han, was quoted saying “Beginning with this early production of the industry’s first 16GB GDDR6, we will offer a comprehensive graphic DRAM line-up, with the highest performance and densities, in a very timely manner.” The hope is that the release of a higher quality of RAM software makers can continue to push the limits of their hardware. HARDWARE SPECS

GDDR6 RAM shows a major upgrade from its predecessor, GDDR5 RAM. Equipped with 16GB’s of RAM the GDDR6 is working with double the RAM than the GDDR5 is. Additionally, it has a transfer rate of 72GB/s meaning this new memory configuration will be able to quickly transfer data to and from a computers CPU. Finally, GDDR6 comes ready to host up to 2GB’s of virtual RAM – helping any PC running on it process quicker and withstand higher resolutions such as 4k and 8K. This new iteration also consumes 30 percent less energy, helping to decrease your workstation’s power demands. With quicker production speeds Samsung is preparing to accelerate the accessibility of memory and increase its market share of the premium memory market.

POTENTIAL USES

In hope of meeting the quickly growing demands of technology giants like Apple, Tesla, and Microsoft, Samsung’s memory is equipped to handle an array of hardware intensive challenges. Specifically, Samsung hopes that GDDR6 RAM will be able to effectively handle the intensive use of RAM that autonomous intelligence (AI), demands to handle neural linking, Additionally, GDDR6 RAM is equipped to better handle the needs of automakers attempting to create autonomous driving cars. Moreover, besides the large scale commercial uses previously mentioned, Samsung also believes that the newest iteration of RAM will make 4K and 8K gaming much more accessible for gamers.

With this quick production of DDR6 memory Samsung is clearly preparing for early launches in next-generation graphics cards and systems. Double the speed, faster processing, and more memory means that you can equip your workstation so it’s ready for any task that you require it to do.
